Was the Cockroach Janta Party scripted at the Oslo Freedom Forum, with Soros links?

The claim rests on a spokesperson's grant from a different foundation and two people's attendance at a forum held after the party was founded.

In October 2026 a video by analyst PN Rai, published with a timeline by the RSS-linked weekly Organiser, claimed the Cockroach Janta Party was planned at the Human Rights Foundation's Oslo Freedom Forum and tied to George Soros. There is no evidence for this: no grant, contract or funding record links HRF or Soros to the CJP.

No evidence

Claim: The CJP "was never formed in Abhijeet Dipke's bedroom"; its strategy was crafted at the Oslo Freedom Forum, and Dipke was trained by HRF and "George Soros-linked networks".

Said by: Political analyst PN Rai, in a video; published and amplified by Organiser on 5 October 2026.

What the record shows: The only specifics are a grant to one spokesperson from a different foundation and claims about who attended the forum. No documents were shown. Organiser

Where the claim came from

Claim · PN Rai On 4 October 2026 Rai posted a Hindi video on X from @PNRai1. He said the real force behind the CJP is the New York-based Human Rights Foundation, which runs the Oslo Freedom Forum, and that a "script" was prepared abroad and brought into India mainly through CJP spokesperson Saurav Das and the Thakur Foundation. He said the foundation gave Das about ₹11 lakh and a book advance, and that Dipke received a year of US training from HRF and Soros-linked networks. Organiser

The next day Organiser published the claims under a headline asking whether the "organic Gen Z uprising" was "scripted abroad", adding its own timeline. Organiser

What the evidence shows

Organiser's evidence consists of the following, none of it documented in the article Organiser:

  • Earlier grants to Das for journalism from the US-based Thakur Family Foundation. This is a different body from HRF, and no amount, date or record is given.
  • Claims that Das and Scroll's Supriya Sharma attended the forum on 1 to 3 June 2026, where Sharma spoke on "Fighting Numbness, Speaking Truth".
  • An unsourced claim that Dipke returned from the US on 6 June 2026.
  • A reel of CJP members on a flight, captioned as a "private plane", though it appears to show a commercial-style flight.

No grant agreement, bank record, attendee list, forum programme or training record is shown. The article carries no response from the CJP, HRF, the Thakur Foundation or the forum. Organiser

No evidence The timeline also runs the wrong way. The CJP was founded on 16 May 2026 with a single X post, about two weeks before the forum met. The Wire Asked about foreign funding, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said: "I have no information to share on this issue with you." Wikipedia No independent outlet or fact-checker has verified the claim.

Context

The CJP says it is "sponsored by no one, funded by nothing", but it has not published audited accounts. The Federal Dipke's past work for the Aam Aadmi Party is documented and acknowledged by him. The Wire A "No evidence" verdict means the claim is unproven, not that every question about the party's funding is settled. See our Cockroach Janta Party protests page for both sides.
