Delhi Metro stations closed on 10 October 2026: the full list

DMRC has shut entry and exit at 45 stations for the CJP protest at Jantar Mantar. Interchange stays open at all of them except New Delhi.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has closed entry and exit at 45 metro stations from 9 pm on Friday, 9 October 2026, to 6 pm on Saturday, 10 October, citing security reasons ahead of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest at Jantar Mantar. Trains still run through these stations and interchange remains available at all of them except New Delhi. The list was cut from 57 stations after the Supreme Court said there could be no complete prohibition on metro movement.

Interchange: can you change lines?

Yes, at 44 of the 45 stations. Closure covers entry and exit only, so passengers already inside the system can change trains at an affected interchange station such as Rajiv Chowk, Kashmere Gate or Central Secretariat. The exception is New Delhi, where interchange is also shut. Business Today News24

No outlet we checked reported how the New Delhi interchange closure affects the Airport Express line, and DMRC's update did not spell it out.

Why the stations were closed

Government's position In a letter dated 8 October, Joint Commissioner of Police (Transport) Rajneesh Gupta asked DMRC to shut entry and exit and reduce train frequency at 57 stations from 9 pm on 9 October "until further notice", citing possible crowd movement toward sensitive locations. The News Minute Delhi Police had refused permission for the protest on 9 October, citing short notice, the organisers' conduct at an earlier protest, law and order, and public safety and traffic. In the Supreme Court, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said the impression that the whole city was shut was "far from the truth" and that the measures were proportionate given violence after the 20 July march. From 57 to 45: the Supreme Court order

DMRC first said on 9 October that entry and exit at 57 stations would stay closed from 9 pm "until the situation normalises" on 10 October. Business Today That afternoon a bench of Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V. Mohana ordered that "there shall be no complete prohibition on movement of Metro" and that services be run "in an aptly regulated manner", with wide publicity.
