Did Priyanka Gandhi elbow a woman constable on 7 October? Contact is visible, intent is unclear

A video circulated by the BJP appears to show Priyanka Gandhi Vadra elbowing a woman constable as police moved her to a vehicle during the opposition's protest on 7 October 2026. The contact is visible, but reporting on the clip says it is unclear whether it was deliberate. Delhi Police have filed FIRs naming her.

On 7 October INDIA bloc MPs, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, sat on the road after police stopped them on the way to Jantar Mantar. What the evidence shows

Unclear intent The Free Press Journal, whose report also carries PTI material on the police inquiry, said: "it is not clear from the video whether the elbowing was deliberate or occurred amid the pushing and pulling during the detention." FPJ

Police said they were examining several phone videos to identify those involved and work out the sequence of events. More than 90 people, including both Gandhis, were detained. FPJ

Documented By 8 October police had registered at least three FIRs against Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi under BNS provisions on assaulting public servants and obstructing them in their duties. ThePrint describes one video as "purportedly" showing Priyanka elbowing a woman officer. ThePrint
